Why can’t you pay attention anymore?
Over the last few months, I have found myself wondering very much the same thing. Many things have happened, and are indeed continuing to happen that continuously lead me to get if not distracted, then feeling like there is much more I could do here. How often does it happen to you that you find yourself thinking, “well I could have done better than that”, or even more, “I know I can do better than that”? The article Why can’t you pay attention anymore? has brought many of those types of questions back into mind. So are all those electronic contrivances of our daily lives leading to a state of disparate thoughts that never lead to anything all that fruitful…?
I’d like to think that this is not entirely true. More that all these meanderings on the internet for one, all those electronic gadgets that are now such an intrinsic part of our day to day lives, the technology that we use and develop at work (and in our own spare time), can lead to a wealth of ideas and innovations, to a betterment of the existing ways of doing things.
In saying that, and again partly in line with the article, and as is good practice in general day to day life, to do things with a certain degree of moderation. Moderation in this case, can lead to a greater degree of productivity and general well being.
Use and benefit from technology, but dont let it lead your life. The country ways have thought me that
