well - at last I got around to upgrading wordpress…
as per my last post, some of you might noticed that my site was hacked! I eventually got around to figuring out where the problem was (without, I may add - much help from the hosting guys), and I’m pretty sure that it was Wordpress.
The version that was previously running was subject to sql injection attacks, and from the info I was able to gather, it appears as if it is possible to get access to local directory from such an attack. I’m still looking into it, as it is intriguing. If any of you have more information on this type of thing, I would appreciate a comment
So the theme is not what it used to be, but that is part of the todo-do list, which is to come up with a new theme overall for the site, have it all looking the same.

not the happiest bunny on the planet…
Apparently, some guys got the pleasure of hacking the index page of this site, with a very imaginative, nay truly wordy selection of prose.
See the page here.
I’m now waiting for the post mortem from the hosting guys, to see what the story is.

Fun, lighthearted sounds, with that wonderful old lp static sound to it. Highly recommend giving this a listen a to.
What - Me Worry? Jug Band: Listen
Here is a blurb from the site, explaining what jug band music is.
While the backbone of the jug band sound was the blues, the repertoires of these bands were culled from a wide variety of musical styles including country dance, string band, ragtime, jazz and popular music. These songs often had a light-hearted, comical, ribald flavor.
I also love the look of the juke box, click the tune you want to listen, no pop ups, no need for external players. Very nice.
Enjoy!

Yesterday was the type of day that I wished the kids on the street where I live were more interested in computers or other such activity that would remove them from the street, than kicking an inflated piece of leather around…
Migraines, for anyone who suffers from them (my sympathy goes out to you), are nasty critters. Light hurts, noise hurts, and the badder ones tend to make you nauseous too. So when my latest installment in migraines kicked yesterday, I was relieved to hear that all on the street was quiet. Sadly, I awoke from a not very restlfull sleep, only to hear the initial dull thumping of a football on the pavement.
Thump, thump, thump… Shrieks of laughter, thump, thump, thump… ‘PASS IT HERE…’ thump, thump, thump… ‘I GOT IT, ITS MINE!’, and other non-sensical fragments of loud and shrill pre-teen voices thundering through the caverns of pain and sensitivities that become your head during an ‘episode’.
The thumping got louder, the shrills and shrieks, sharper and more barbed, as the kids parked themselves in the area not far my driveway. Oh only to have had the strenght and clarity to get out of bed and ask them to move, but yesterday was such a day that such activities were impossible.
Today, the sun is shinning, the pain is gone, and the kids are playing again…. thump, thump, thump!

This is interesting,
Ear recognition may beat face biometrics.
Perhaps it is an old wives tale, but I once heard somewhere that the ear would become longer and somewhat bigger as one got older. Perhaps the inherent characteristics of the ear do not change that much over time, so the recognition ability might hold for longer.
But what about someone growing long hair, or sporting a wig? Somewhat akin to attempts at face recognition foiling by wearing a beard…
Interesting all the same.
p.s. wonder will this mean (if the system gets widely deployed) that we will end up with a slew of van Gogh’esque people walking around!
